Portsea Beach House, 2009

An recognisable feature of this beachouse is the panorama style horizontal windows which wrap around the entire upper level, opening views into remnant native tree canopies immediately adjacent.

Site responsive: The upper level is offset to create an overhang to the north facing openings which act not only to allow in the winter sun, but also blur the boundaries between inside and out. Every zone of the house is directly connected not only with the natural environmental beyond.

This design incorporates a range of environmentally sustainable measures, including passive solar techniques and good access to cross ventilation.
